Acrosian has launched as a biometrics contract research organisation focused on AI-augmented services for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies.
The Princeton, New Jersey-based company will provide integrated clinical data management, biostatistics, statistical programming and medical writing services.
Acrosian was founded by Benjamin Jackson, Soumitra Chowdhury and Dr Vladimir Mats. The founders previously helped build and scale a large independent biometrics CRO with operations across three continents before its acquisition.
AI-augmented biometrics services
Biometrics CROs support clinical development by helping sponsors manage, analyse and report clinical trial data. Their work can include data management, statistical analysis plans, statistical programming, tables, listings and figures, regulatory submission support and medical writing.
Acrosian said it has been built around AI-augmented workflows rather than retrofitting artificial intelligence into legacy systems.
“After 18 years of building our previous company, we reached a simple conclusion: rebuilding for the AI era would ultimately be more powerful than retrofitting a legacy organisation,” said Soumitra Chowdhury, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Acrosian.
Chowdhury said large organisations can accumulate processes, systems and assumptions that make fundamental change difficult. He said Acrosian has been designed around a cleaner architecture for the next stage of clinical development operations.
Leadership team reunites
Acrosian’s executive leadership team includes Benjamin Jackson as Co-Founder and Chairman, Soumitra Chowdhury as Co-Founder and CEO, and Dr Vladimir Mats as Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer.
The company also named Dr Yurii Kartashov as Chief Research and Development Officer, and Aparna Chowdhury as Chief Audit and Compliance Officer.
“Sponsors are not betting on a new team,” said Dr Vladimir Mats, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer. “They’re working with professionals who have already built and scaled a global biometrics organisation.”
Mats said the company aims to combine scientific rigour and operational delivery standards with a new technological foundation.
Governance before AI deployment
Acrosian said its AI strategy begins with governance, not simply technical capability.
The company said every AI-augmented workflow will be developed within a unified GxP validation framework before becoming part of client delivery. It said human accountability, validation, auditability, security and documented oversight are built into its quality system.
Every client deliverable will remain under qualified human responsibility, while sponsors will receive transparency on which AI capabilities are operational and which remain under active development.
“The industry doesn’t need more AI claims,” said Dr Yurii Kartashov, Chief Research and Development Officer. “It needs confidence in how AI is implemented.”
Kartashov said trust is built through validation, governance and transparency about what AI can and cannot yet do.
Human oversight remains central
Acrosian’s launch reflects a wider shift in clinical development operations. Sponsors are exploring AI to improve efficiency, consistency and quality, but regulated work still requires traceability, review, validation and accountable human oversight.
For biometrics functions, this is especially important because clinical trial data, statistical outputs and medical writing can directly support regulatory submissions and development decisions.
The company said its model is not based on replacing experts with artificial intelligence, but on enabling experienced professionals to deliver faster and more consistently through governed AI augmentation.
